Reflection
Long-term policy work and ethical reform often face relentless friction, discouragement, and delay. When decision-makers encounter hostility or exhaustion, the temptation to compromise core convictions grows strong. Standing firm requires steady courage and enduring commitment. Ask God to grant elected representatives and public servants the resolve to pursue righteous goals over many years. May they remain steadfast through adversity, giving their labour to lasting good even when results take decades to appear.
Prayer
Pray that our leaders would have the tenacity of Wilberforce, who remained steadfast in his God-given mission for decades despite illness, threats, and overwhelming opposition. It was just three days before his death in 1833, when he learned that the House of Commons had passed a law freeing all slaves in the British Empire which included Canada.
