My God, turn your ear, and hear. Open your eyes, and see our desolations, and the city which is called by your name; for we do not present our petitions before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercies’ sake.

Daniel 9:18 World English Bible

Reflection

Governance carries immense responsibility, and decision-makers regularly face dilemmas that surpass human wisdom alone. Seeking divine direction is an act of humility, acknowledging that human effort and national pride are never enough to secure wise leadership. When interceding for those in authority, requests should rely entirely on divine grace and tender mercy rather than any claim to moral merit. Ask God to direct parliamentary decisions, provincial councils, and civic leaders with divine oversight, granting discernment to navigate complex social and economic challenges for the good of all.

Prayer

Pray that God, in His great mercy, would guide our leaders and nation, not because of our righteousness, but because of His compassion.
